Will plants be affected if they are too hot or too cold?

Question: Will plants be affected if they are too hot or cold?

Answer: Yes.Cold temperatures may harm the plant, killing its cells. The plant may droop and die within several days. Plants grow best in room-temperature, with the amount of water and sunlight it needs daily.Plants also cannot receive too much warmth as the longer the heat lasts, the more plants will suffer.

Elizabeth Choy's Education

Education
Elizabeth's father was posted to Tenom where there were no educational facilities, so Elizabeth and her siblings were sent back to Kudat where her paternal grandfather ran the village school, teaching in Chinese. Her higher education was taken at St Monica's School between 1921 to 1929, an Anglican missionary boarding school in Sandakan. Because the teachers could not pronounce Chinese names, she adopted the English name Elizabeth. In 1925, she and her aunt Jessie became the first girls to sign up in North Borneo's inaugural Girl Guides Company. By 1927, she was teaching the lower standards even whilst she was studying.

In December 1929, she came to Singapore to further her studies at the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus at Victoria Street. She shone academically, obtaining the Prize of Honor in her first year of school in December 1930. She resided with her fourth uncle at Selegie where he ran a music shop, the original T. M. A. at High Street. The untimely death of her mother in 1931 and the onset of the Great Depression placed upon her the burden of raising her six younger siblings. Thus she forwent a college education, even a possible scholarship, to start work so she could finance the education of her younger siblings.

My first day of school and what I did during the school holidays

Hello! I am Jasmine and I am studying in class 6G this year. During the school holidays, I did not do anything much other than studying, playing and going to the library to borrow books. It was quite boring. I celebrated New Year by having dinner with my relatives though at the end of the holiday. It was the first day of the school the next day. I was very excited as I could meet my friends again. My classmates and I did not get to study much during the first day of school as there are a lot of things to be done. Now that CA1 is coming next month, I will have to study much harder as there is not much time. I aspire to achieve good results.

My Experience in 5G

I feel that Ms Zarinah was a very good teacher and it was very easy to understand her teaching. Although she gives us a lot of homework, I understand that it was for our own good. I plan to work harder because I would be very busy next year when I am in P6 as I would be having a lot of exams. I aspire to achieve excellent marks in PSLE. I was very happy in 5G and had a lot of fun. I hope that I would have Ms Zarinah as my form teacher for next year.

My NE Day Experience

To me, the NE day was the most memorable one for I got drenched head to toe. Although we were given raincoats, we still got wet. Luckily, I brought an umbrella with me. I feel that it is very weird that it suddenly rained very heavily. When I went to school that afternoon, the weather was sunny and bright. I waited for about 2 hours before being able to get into the bus which will drive us to Marina Bay.
When we reached there, we proceeded to our seats and sat down to wait for the show to start. Two of the Mediacorp artistes were there hosting the show. The show was very exciting and nice. Before the show, there were some light drizzles and a rainbow appeared but when it was about 8.30pm, it started to rain very heavily.
When I was about to go down the stairs, water was flowing down continously which made the staircase look like a waterfall. When I got home, it was already 11pm. It was a fun but tiring day for me.

Why plants need nitrogen?

Question: Why do plants need nitrogen?
Answer:All plants need nitrogen to make amino acids, proteins and DNA, but the nitrogen in the atmosphere is not in a form that they can use. Other plants get the nitrogen they need from the soils or water in which they live mostly in the form of inorganic nitrate (NO3-). Nitrogen is a limiting factor for plant growth.

Is carrot a fruit or vegetable?

The carrot is a root vegetable usually orange or purple, red, white, and yellow in colour, with a crisp texture when fresh. The edible part of a carrot is a taproot. It is a domesticated form of the wild carrot Daucus carota, native to Europe and southwestern Asia. It has been bred for its greatly enlarged and more palatable, less woody-textured edible taproot, but is still the same species.

My Results

I think my English marks is not that good and there is still room for improvement. I need to work hard for the comprehension cloze and other areas in which I am poor in. As for my Maths results, I feel quite satisfied and I hope to maintain this grade during the SA2 examinations. Although I still have not know my Science results, I hope my marks will be okay.

What is the Acropolis?

The Acropolis hill , so called the "Sacred Rock" of Athens, is the most important site of the city and constitutes one of the most recognizable monuments of the world. It is the most significant reference point of ancient Greek culture, as well as the symbol of the city of Athens itself. Over the centuries, the rocky hill was continuously used either as a cult place or as a residential area or both. The inscriptions on the numerous and precious offerings to the sanctuary of Athen indicate that the cult of the city's patron goddess was established as early as the Archaic period.

The Camp

Truthfully saying, my time in camp was not that fun. The first thing we did in camp is to check in to our dorms. The girls are supposed to sleep in the dorms while boy are supposed to sleep in the A-huts. All the girls in my dorms, including me, all rushed to change into trackpants for the activities. Then, we quickly lined up and went for our lunch. After our lunch, we went behind the canteen to try archery. When it was my turn, I did very badly. Two of my arrows did not even hit the board but luckily one did. Xin Yi did very well for archery. I think she managed to hit the bull's eye once. The next activity was abseiling. I learnt to put on the harness and wear the helmet. As I was quite scared of heights, I was very scared to go down when it was my turn but I still managed to go down. The first day of my camp was quite fun but the second day was not. I felt giddy and my temperature went up. I missed all my activities and had to go back home. When I went back to school on Monday, my friends described the campfire to be so much fun that I wished that I was not sick and was able to stay for the campfire. Oh, how I wish I was there!

The Three Days when Ms Zarinah was not in school

To me, the three days when Miss Zarinah was not in school was the same as usual. The relief teacher was Mrs Kwok and she gave the assignments that Miss Zarinah had wanted us to do during the three days.I don't really like her very much as what she says sometimes are also very rude. She also told us a few stories about people sick in their mind though I don't really think it is true and also things about our backs being crooked while having our bags on the chair.

What is a geyser and how does it form?

What is a geyser?
A geyser is an intermittent or semi-regularly periodic spout of geothermally heated groundwater and steam. Any subsurface encounter between water and heat produces a hydrothermal process. The heat is usually supplied by upwellings of magma from the mantle, the water by precipitation that percolates downward through surface rocks. Some oceanic water enters the mantle at subduction zones and becomes an important ingredient in upper-mantle magmas.

How does it form?
Geysers form only under special conditions. First, a system of underground channels must exist in the form of a vertical neck or series of chambers. The exact arrangement cannot be observed directly, and probably varies from geyser to geyser. This system of channels must vent at the surface. Second, water deep in the system—tens or hundreds of meters underground—must be in contact with or close proximity to magma. Third, this water must come in contact with some rock rich in silica (silicon dioxide, SiO2), usually rhyolite.
