Introduction
It was a blistering hot and sunny Sunday afternoon.I was on my way to a nearby coffeeshop to have my lunch.When I reached there, the coffeeshop was packed with people like sardines in a can.I just managed to find myself a seat and sat down heavily.
Problem/Conflict
As I was deciding what to eat, a fierce quarrel caught my attention......"Please do not smoke here" the cleaner advised politely to a young man called Mr Teng.Instead of being sorry, he in return, threw hurtful accusations at the cleaner.The cleaner was offended.He threatenened to call the police if he does not stop smoking here.Mr Teng was annoyed at the cleaner's words and started to throw beer bottles at him.To defend himself, he ducked and crawled under the table. The people who witnessed the incident scrambled away anxiously.Even the chicken stall holder dropped his chopper by surprise.
Resolution/Solution
I realised the seriousness of the situation and whipped out my mobile phone and dialled for the police.Moments later, police sirens echoed in the distance.The police had arrived! Men in blue got out of the police cars.They had grim expressions on their faces.One of them held a handcuff.They walked to Mr Teng, flashed their CID card in front of him and handcuffed him.As he was led into the police car, he threw curses and vulgarities at the cleaner.After a few days, I learnt that he was fined for $500 and was jailed for 3 years.
Moral
The moral of the story is a soft word turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
