Mr Peh had not eaten his lunch since 3p.m. A young vagabond strode into the hawker centre. The vagabond was heavily tattooed and wore a dirty singlet and a pair of shorts. His breath and his clothes reek of alcohol and cigarette smoke, as he staggered towards the table. He ordered three bottles of beer in Singlish. It was obvious he was an uncouth man. After that, he took out his cigarette, than he started smoking out heavy puffs of smoke. Meanwhile, Mr Peh who was sitting nearby, inhaled a great deal of smoke. He was steaming mad and boiling with rage, as he walked towards the young man.
Mr Peh tried to tell him not to smoke. However the vagabond smashed the bottles and tried to kill him. Hence the other customers were frightened to their wits and took to their heels. Mr Peh was also escaping away from the young man who was hot on his heels. When the young man finally caught up with breathless Mr Peh, he thrust a glass piece into his heart. A witness passed by and informed the police. Moments later, the police came and the vagabond was arrested. The paramedics tried to save Mr Peh but to no avail, they failed no matter how hard they tried.
The young man was sentenced to death but his death wish was to visit Mr Peh’s tomb. As the remorseful young man placed a bunch of flowers on the cold hard stone, he regretted his actions and wished he could turn back in time.
